South Polar Skuas or Great Skuas are the most common wildlife at here at McMurdo. They are large seagulls. Truley the bird that symbolizes Antarctica, it's all about survival.

We just had a eclipse here in Antarctica. This is what it looked like from a polar obiter satellite. SeaWiFS Visible 11/23/03 22:57GMT Eclipse penumbra.......the last time a total eclipse was observed in Antarctica was on Sept. 21, 1903, by British explorer Capt. Robert Falcon Scott, on Ross Island off the continent's northern coast.
